LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 2026

The Cardinals did not have a baserunner until there were two outs in the seventh inning but then rallied for four runs in the ninth to stun the Pirates 4-2 on Monday night in Pittsburgh. Pedro Pages and JJ Wetherholt hit back-to-back homers to tie the game before Jose Fermin put the Cardinals ahead with a two-run double.

The four runs snapped a drought of 36 consecutive scoreless innings for the Cardinals in Pittsburgh and gave them their 10th comeback win out of their 15 victories this season.

Kyle Leahy will get the start tonight in the second game of the series.
